GURGAON: Uneven road surface, potholes and protruding manholes have made the road connecting Sector 7 with New Railway Road a nightmare for commuters. "The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon dug up the road to lay an underground sewage line, which was laid in just 10 days. But the road has not been repaired yet," alleged a shopkeeper, who regularly commutes from the bus stand to his residence in New Colony.
"In three months, the condition of even the streets and lanes that branch off from this New Colony road, and ones in other connecting areas, have deteriorated," said Sumant, a Sector 7 resident.

With the up lane closed for repair, four-wheelers are forced to drive on in the down lane, which has already led to an accident last month. "It is not always possible for traffic from both sides to drive on this one, narrow lane," said Gautam, adding that he hit a car coming from the other side as he tried to manoeuvre his car through it. Traffic jams are also a regular affair here. Ashima, a Delhi University student who regularly rides her Scooty to the nearest Metro station, said, "It takes more than 15 minutes to traverse this 100-metre-long road. When it rains, it's extremely slippery. Then there are the potholes. It's almost impossible to use this road in the evening," she said.
Seema Pahuja, the local councilor, said, "The Corporation had put a sewerage line in the area. There was a plan to put tiles on this road.
The repair work was stopped due to rains. It will be completed soon."
