The Expenditure Management Commission (EMC) will submit its interim report by January, in time for its recommendations to be incorporated in the FY16 Budget.
The EMC, to be headed by former Reserve Bank governor Bimal Jalan, has been tasked with reviewing spending by the Centre, including suggesting space for increased developmental spending, and FRBM rules to suggest any improvements if necessary. The final report of the panel is expected to be submitted before the FY17 Budget.
