Larry Fitzgerald's contribution in opener ominous

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald is introduced before playing the San Diego Chargers in NFL action at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. on Sept. 8, 2014.

I don't believe Larry Fitzgerald's quiet night on Monday had anything to do with politics, despite what his father tweets.

I don't believe Carson Palmer wasn't looking for him.

I do believe these kind of games will weigh heavily on how both sides consider where the standout receiver plays next year.

Facts are facts. His $23.6 million salary-cap number in 2015 is problematic. He has an $8 million roster bonus due in March.

Is one catch for 22 yards, and no passes thrown his way until the fourth quarter, enough for him? Sure he is the consummate team player but that kind of contribution can't be easy.

And what about the Cardinals? Does a game like this that they won influence them to believe there is life after Fitzgerald?

Hard to find a better face for a franchise. In professional sports, that's often not enough.
