More than four decades after it first swayed an entire generation of music lovers, RD Burman’s Pyar Mein Dil Pe Maar De Goli has been recreated as the title track of the upcoming film, Tamanchey. Starring Nikhil Dwivedi and Richa Chadha — as Munna and Babu respectively — the quirky love story, in fact, has the same tagline as the lyrics of the song. While the original had vocals by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle, the version in Tamanchey, presented by FashionTV Films, has been sung by Bappi Lahiri.
He says, “I’m the biggest admirer of Pancham and this is a small tribute from me to him.”

Tanu Weds Manu fame). Song director
Deepti Nangia says that since the original had the inimitable
Amitabh Bachchan and
Zeenat Aman, they thought it best to picturise the number in a different, albeit unique way.
Adds producer
Suryaveer Singh Bhullar, “Generations have grown up on this song and I’m privileged that my film is attached to it now.” Tamanchey, produced by Wild Elephants Motion Pictures, releases October 10.
