Rajnath Singh visits Porbandar, Marine Institute planned

Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh visited Coast Guard at Porbandar today to review the Coastal Security mechanism and preparedness of security forces along the international border.
The Home Minister also visited the Coast Guard District Headquarters at Porbandar. Inspector General Kuldip Singh Sheoran, Commander Coast Guard Region North-West briefed the Home Minister about the Coastal security arrangements, force level and joint coastal patrol mechanism being undertaken by the Coast Guard to strengthen the coastal defence of Gujarat, which has the coastline of 1600 km.
During the visit, the Home Minister was demonstrated the features and efficacy of recently implemented network of Coastal Radar Chain along the coast of Gujarat. Shri Rajnath Singh also interacted with Coast Guard personnel and visited Coast Guard offshore patrol vessel ICGS Vijit that is equipped with state of art surveillance & communication technology and modern armament.
Earlier in the day, the Home Minister visited Coast Guard Air Enclave at Porbandar which is responsible for air-operations in support of surface assets for protection of our vast Exclusive Economic Zone and surveillance of International Maritime Boundary Line.
Add to this: Rajnath held meetings with Coast Guards, Navy and minister of state for Home in Gujarat Rajni Patel. He said a Marine institute will be started in Porbandar to train Marine Commandos.
