Serena Williams misses TV spots after partying with Wozniacki

Serena Williams missed all of her morning TV appearances after winning the US Open championship because she partied until the early hours of Monday with Caroline Wozniacki.

Williams, 32, was due on NBC’s “Today” and ABC’s “Good Morning America” followed by “Live With Kelly and Michael” with her trophy on Monday after winning her 18th Grand Slam title.

But the superstar canceled her appearances because she was too tired after she celebrated with her friend and final opponent Wozniacki — who’s become close to Williams following Wozniacki’s split with golfer Rory McIlroy — at Tao and VIP Room, where they posted pictures of themselves with Joe Jonas and model Gigi Hadid. Fellow clubgoers at VIP Room said Williams’ group of nearly 30 ordered Champagne and vodka and danced until around 3 a.m.

“GMA” had teased Williams’ appearance on Monday morning at 7, then, less than an hour later, had to tell viewers she wasn’t going to appear. “Today” also confirmed the champ was booked, and they had announced her appearance at the top of the show, before she canceled.

Another source tells us that while Williams — who withdrew from Wimbledon earlier this summer after a “viral illness” left her disoriented — had been out late, her team, including her agent and publicist, decided she was “too tired” to do a round of TV shows on a few hours’ sleep after two weeks of intense competition.

Williams did make a 10:30 a.m. Monday appearance at the Empire State Building for a photo call followed by interviews at the JP Morgan Chase building.

She was seen out again Monday night with Wozniacki at a dinner for Miami Heat star Chris Bosh’s new tie line, Mr. Nice Tie, at Sons of Essex, where she stayed until after 12:30 a.m.

Yesterday, the world No. 1 was back to work making her first Fashion Week presentation for her HSN collection in front of top editors including Anna Wintour.

A rep for Williams declined to comment.
