— -- For more than 15 years Britney Spears' dance moves and pop anthems have made her a music icon.

The singer, who is currently in the midst of a residency in Las Vegas, talked with “Good Morning America’s" Michael Strahan about the challenges of her show and, in a wide-ranging interview, about being single after breaking up with the boyfriend who she claimed cheated on her.

Spears announced that month that she’d broken up with David Lucado. Onstage she told fans: “So I know you know my boyfriend cheated on me.”

When Strahan asked her what it was like to be single in Las Vegas, she said it was “mind blowing."

“My mom's like, ‘You need to date three or four different guys at one time. And just have a lot of fun.’ And I'm like, ‘Mom, we're not that old-school anymore,’” Spears said, laughing. “You know what I mean? I guess I could try to do that. But I don't know. It's fun. It's a lot of fun.”

She added: “I think everything happens for a reason. And I'm actually really blessed right now.”

Many of Spears’ songs are about love and struggles in relationships. Strahan asked whether her relationships provided inspiration for her songwriting.

“Oh definitely,” she replied. “And when I perform, too, you take your hurt or whatever you're going through and you put it in the show. And sometimes, it'll give you way more energy -- surprisingly, you know.”

The 32-year-old mother of two is currently doing “Piece of Me,” a two-year residency show in Las Vegas.

She signed on to perform 50 shows each in 2014 and 2015 at The Axis Theater, and she broke the news of the residency last September on "GMA."

She acknowledged to Strahan that the show -- which opened to rave reviews in December -- has been challenging.

“You know, there's a lot of days where I'm like, ‘OK, I don't want to do a show today but I have to do the show,’” she said. “And I make myself get up. ... You have to work out and you have to, you know, so your adrenaline and, you know, your whole stamina stays up. So it's pretty challenging. But it's fun. I'm having a lot of fun doing this show.”

Spears is also back in the studio. She posted a sneak peek on Instagram -- but when Strahan asked about a time frame, she said, “We’re taking things really slow.”

In addition to working on new music, the singer is now branching out in a way she never has before -- with a sleepwear line called “The Intimate Britney Spears.”

“Ten years ago, I was in Europe. And I went into this vintage, like, you know, artsy-fartsy, like, really, really cool, small, boutique store of all of these lingerie and sleepwear lines. And ... ever since I went in there I was like, ‘I want to do this,’” Spears told Strahan. “So it's been for 10 years that I've been trying to put this line together. And it's just ... it's very romantic, very vintage, muted colors.”

Spears said it’s taken a year and a half to put it all together, saying that she has been “very hands-on” in the choices of color, fabric and other aspects of the line.

The collection, created in conjunction with Change Lingerie, launched Tuesday in New York City. Items are priced from $17 to $79 and may be purchased at boutique retailers in the U.S. and Canada, as well as online at www.intimatebritneyspears.us and www.barenecessities.com.
