Ahsan spoke to us from Lahore and shared with us, “ I was born in London and then my family shifted to Pakistan.
Frankly, I wasn’t even fluent speaking Urdu. It was only during my college days when I started taking interest in theatres and went out with my friends to watch dramas when I got the nasha to do acting and learnt to speak Urdu fluently. I have no background of acting and it was never a planned career option for me. As you know, in Pakistan drama and theatre is more popular and well appreciated than Pakistani movies. It’s a reality, that you can see an actor or a singer in every family in Pakistan. And it’s all because of the rich influence of art music and culture in Pakistan that has helped young talents to grow and showcase their talents all over the globe. For me, acting was something that came naturally. I have no formal in acting and never needed to have one. I remember , every weekend we would go out with our family to watch plays at the theatre, that mahool of watching actor performing live on stage was a different kick altogether. It helped me a lot to learn and grow as an actor. Even though I started my career with Pakistani movies, I later decided to shift to television because I realized that you have more potential to do more things as an actor on a small screen and there is very limited options offered to do as an actor on a big screen. "
Talking about the Indian audience response to his serial Mere Qatil Mere Dildar (MQMD)that has been on air in Indian television, Ahsan says, “It’s very overwhelming to see the Indian audience response .Recently on my trip to London I was taken aback when a young Indian girl spotted me at a coffee shop and shouted at me Umer and ran up to me. I wondered for a moment why she called me Umer later I realized she remembered my serial name Umer and didn’t know my real name. It was nice chatting up with her . She was all excited to click pictures with me along with her family. I was amazed to know from her the popularity of Pakistani serials being appreciated in India. Bahut khushi ki baat hai ki humare serial content ko India ke logo ne pasand kiya. "
Ahsan who started his own production house in Pakistan is also in talks with Indian production house . He informs, “ I have my own production house here in Pakistan and it would be a dream for me to work with Indian artists. I feel there should more exchange of TV contents in both the countries. We would love artist from here to act in Indian serials. People here in Pakistan are very fond of Indian serials bas yeh ekh baat hai ki Indian serials khafi lambi hoti hai .. unko tora short karna chahiye.. Also they should make more of realistic serials. I have been offered to do a lot of Indian serials bas yahaan kaam itna hai ki waqt hi nahi mil paaya.”

Does he plans to visit India and Ahsan says, “Meri bari tamanna hai ki main India ayu .. I have never visited India and I’m looking forward to visit India soon and hopefully by end of this year. Bollywood talks chal rahe hai .. lekin koi jaldi nahi hai . I’m not at all choosy chahe Bollywood ho ya Indian serials .. I’m just waiting for the right moment. But I would love acting in Indian serials more than Bollywood movies.”
