The new superbike from America, ridden by Australian Superbike racer Chas Hern, competed in the National BEARS class at the Pirelli Road Race Series on Australia’s Phillip Island.
The EBR 1190RX featured limited modifications compared to the highly modified competition, running a standard exhaust, no quickshifter, no engine modifications and standard street gearing that comes stock in the EBR 1190RX.
The only modifications on Hern’s EBR 1190RX were Pirelli race rubber and fibreglass fairings. And that’s not all – the bikes competing against the EBR 1190RX were the likes of Aprilia RSV4s, Ducati Panigales, KTM RC8 1190s and BMW S1000RRs.
Last month, EBR Australia took Hern to Broadford Track for a video shoot with the new EBR 1190RX. When the team saw Hern making extremely fast laps on a completely stock bike with road tyres, the decision was made to enter Hern and the EBR 1190RX into the National BEARS class for round three of the Pirelli Road Series. Round Four of the Pirelli Road Race Series will take place September 27-28 at Broadford Track near Melbourne.
In 2013, Hero MotoCorp announced its first-ever equity purchase in an overseas company – picking up 49.2 per cent stake for US$ 25 million in US-based technology partner Eric Buell Racing. Under the agreement, EBR will help develop motorcycles to be launched in India. Even the latest Hero Xtreme has been reportedly tuned by EBR engineers.
