Falling tree kills 2 bikers, pedestrian in Panchmahal

Three persons were killed when a tree collapsed following heavy rains in Kalol taluka of Panchmahal district.The incident took place on Kalol-Malav Road near Malav crossroads on Tuesday morning.

VADODARA: Three persons were killed when a tree collapsed following heavy rains in Kalol taluka of Panchmahal district. The incident took place on Kalol-Malav Road near Malav crossroads on Tuesday morning.
The acacia tree fell on commuters who were travelling on the road. Two persons, who were commuting on a bike, and a pedestrian were killed in the incident.
The deceased had left a factory in the area after working there on a night shift.
The deceased were identified as Kirit Chauhan, a resident of Bedhiya in Kalol taluka, and Dharmendra Rajak as well as Arvind Ramdev, who belonged to Madhya Pradesh. A man Vinod Saroj from Uttar Pradesh was injured in the incident.
Heavy rains in Panchmahal district led to waterlogging in Halol where a pond had brimmed over. Ponds on the foothills of Pavagadh as well as on the hill also brimmed over leading to disruption of road traffic there.
Water was released from Kadana dam on Mahi river in Mahisagar district. Water of the river started flowing over Hadod bridge near Lunawada because of the discharge and the bridge had to be closed for traffic. Villages on the banks of Mahi have been asked to exercise caution in the wake of the development. In Panchmahal district, water was also being released from Hadaf dam in the district since Monday.
