Zilla parishads workshop to review schemes

A state-level two-day workshop at Lonavla would be held by senior officials of zilla parishads (ZP) to review the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, a sanitation scheme, phase II of Jal Swarajya as well as the National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) from Wednesday.

NASHIK: A state-level two-day workshop at Lonavla would be held by senior officials of zilla parishads (ZP) to review the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, a sanitation scheme, phase II of Jal Swarajya as well as the National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) from Wednesday.
Rural water supply officer Prakash Nandanware said principal secretary Rajesh Kumar, other senior government officials and officers from UNICEF and World Bank would be present for the meet.
"The officials will review the three schemes and their progress at the workshop. The schemes are funded 50% by the Centre and the remaining amount is paid by the state to ensure their implementation," Nandanware added.
The officials said a plan would also be chalked out to ensure complete utilization of the funds under various stages. "A total review of the expenditure, along with physical and financial achievements, would be done," he added.
The official said the ZP has spent about 85-90% of the total funds received till date for various schemes.
The ZP has got funds worth Rs 20.8 crore under NRDWP, of which it has received Rs 10 crore and spent about Rs 7 crore.
The district is among the first 10 in the state in terms of physical and financial achievements.
