Embarrassed BJP warns partymen on AAP ‘mischief’ after sting on Delhi govt formation

Stung by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)?s purported sting on Delhi BJP vice-president Sher Singh Dagar, BJP office-bearers have been directed to be cautious and alert if any AAP MLA or representative comes calling.

In a meeting of office-bearers on Tuesday, leaders were reportedly asked to be cautious.

?We were advised not to fall prey to AAP mischiefs…,? a senior party leader said.

A day after the AAP released the purported sting video, senior BJP leaders said the party seems to be favouring the view that any decision on government formation in Delhi should be taken after results of the four poll-bound states are declared.

?We believe that any decision on Delhi should be taken only after witnessing our performance in the assembly elections in other states,? a senior leader said.

The remark comes at a time when the party is divided on the issue of government formation in Delhi. More so, after the alleged sting on Dagar. Though many BJP leaders feel there is a need to verify the authenticity of the CD, others believe it has hurt the party?s chances to form the government.

On Monday, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal released the purported sting video at a press conference. Kejriwal claimed the video had caught on tape Dagar offering Rs 4 crore to AAP MLA from Sangam Vihar, Dinesh Mohania, to quit the party. Kejriwal claimed the video was shot at Dagar?s house.

On Tuesday, the BJP maintained that the ball on government formation was in the Lt-Governor?s court. ?It is the Lt-Governor?s prerogative to invite any party to prove majority. We would not like to comment on what the L-G wants to do. Our unit president has maintained that whenever the L-G invites the BJP, we will analyse our options critically. Voters will give a befitting reply to the AAP,? Prabhat Jha, BJP?s Delhi incharge, said.

In a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee, Jung has sought permission to invite the single-largest party in Delhi ? the BJP ? to form a government. The BJP is five MLAs short of majority. The capital has been under President?s rule since February 17.
