Meet InformationHONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's cross country team will get a glimpse of this year's Big West Conference Championship course when it competes in the UC Riverside Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 13.
The 6K course will be run at the Agricultural Operations Course located adjacent to the UCR campus on the 420-acre Citrus Research Center and Agricultural Experiment Station. The Big West Championships will be held on the same course for its Nov. 1 meet.
The Rainbow Wahine last competed in the UC Riverside Invitational in 2012 and placed 15
th. That year, UCR also hosted the Big West Championship and UH finished in eighth place.
UH will send a contingent of six runners, including sophomore
Caitlyn Foss and senior Tiare Nakashima, who both missed last week's Big Wave Invitational and will be making their season debuts. Freshman
Montana Martinez was UH's top finisher last week, placing 19
th overall. Also finishing among UH's top five at the Big Wave and making this week's trip are seniors
Hayley Musashi and
Louise Mulvey, and freshman
Melissa Chadwick.
The UCR Invitational is one of three mainland competitions prior to the Big West Championship. UH will also compete in the Stanford Invitational (Sept. 27) and Bronco Invitational (Oct. 18).
