Rich tributes to Kaloji Narayana Rao

Chief Minister sanctions Rs 12 crore for the Kaloji Kala Kshetram
KARIMNAGAR: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekar Rao received a rousing reception on his first visit to Warangal district after assuming charge. The CM arrived here for the valedictory function of people’s poet, Kaloji Narayana Rao’s birth centenary celebrations.
The CM paid tributes to Kaloji at Kaloji Junction and laid foundation for Kaloji Kala Kshetram at Balasamudram later, the CM attended a meeting at NIT Auditorium.
The CM said, “Kaloji’s poems deserve universal recognition, his poetry is a running commentary on the historical, socio-political and cultural aspects of his time.
His birthday will be celebrated as Telangana Language Day and one of the Universities will be named after him. In Nizamabad, the district administration officially conducted the programme at Pragathi Bhavan conference hall.
Speaking on the occasion, district collector D. Ronald Rose said that Kaloji Narayana Rao had struggled for carving out separate Telangana state. In Karimangar, the Padma Vibhushan awardee was fondly remembered for his contribution to public life and literary works.
Recalling his association with Kaloji, finance and civil supplies minister Etela Rajendar said that the TRS government would strive hard for realising the vision of Kaloji. He garlanded a statue of Kaloji, which was erected at Rekurthi village, on the outskirts of the city. Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kama-lakar paid floral tributes to Kaloji.
District joint collector Sarfaraz Ahmad said that history of the likes of Kaloji should be included in textbooks. “Everyone must draw inspiration from the life of Kaloji and try to follow his ideals. Kaloji raised demand for Telangana statehood and he had instilled spirit of movement among public,” he said while addressing the gathering at the collectorate.
Kaloji deed inspires mine staffer:
Inspired by poet Kaloji Narayana Rao’s example of donating body, a Singareni employee along with his colleagues set up a voluntary organisation, Sadashaya Foundation in 2006, to encourage organ and body donation among public.
Mr T. Shravan Kumar, fitter-cum-mechanic at OCP-I of Ramagundam III, sad that he and five of his fellow workers started the foundation by donating his sibling’s body in Godavarikhani.
“My brother witnessed donation of Kaloji’s body to the medical college in 2002. He was inspired by the act. We started this foundation following my brother’s death due to heart attack in 2006 to create awareness on cadaver donation” he said.
