11:25am – In opinion today Red Jelly’s Eaon Pritchard strikes back at yesterday’s comments around social media influencers, saying its all a fallacy.

10:50am – TV ratings are in, the second outing of Big Brother saw it audience drop to 924,000 from its debut audience of 1.067m.

10:11am – GE has unveiled a branded content film which brings to life the brand’s healthcare technology as it tracks the story of the Caisley family and their premature twins Ethan and Noah.

Mashable: Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon Star in First iPhone 6 Ad

“Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake star in Apple’s first ad for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but you might not know it’s them.

The two sing “Thus Spoke Zarathustra,” a.k.a. the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey in the ad, which features the two stars’ hands, but not their faces. Tagline: Bigger than bigger.”

AdAge: Apple Introduces Apple Watch, Bigger iPhones, Digital Wallet

“Apple planted its foot firmly today in three incredibly profitable industries — luxury fashion, health care and payments — as well as one incredibly new one.

At an event on Tuesday, Apple started by introducing two new larger-screen phones, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. The new iPhones come equipped with near-field communication, a short-range wireless technology called NFC for short and a mobile-payments digital wallet. Under Apple’s branding, the system is called ApplePay.”

Mumbrella Asia: Singapore sings to commuters to ‘Bring the thoughtfulness out’ on public transport

“The Singapore government has launched a cartoon musical video to encourage Singaporean commuters to behave better on public transport.

Two new cartoon characters – Hush-Hush Hannah and Bag-Down Benny – have been added to an existing troop that is part of the Land Transport Authority’s ‘Graciousness programme’.”

AdWeek: Here Is Apple’s Ad Celebrating the Surprise Release of U2’s New Album

“Apple wrapped up its iPhone 6/Apple Watch event today with quick the kicker: a performance by U2 followed by a remarkable offer: Everyone can get the band’s new album, Songs of Innocence, for free on iTunes through Oct. 13.

Below is the new spot celebrating the partnership, and it’s a throwback in more ways than one. It’s reminiscent, of course, of Apple’s old “Silhouettes” iPod commercials. (You’ll remember that U2 did an Apple ad, plus a longer video, around Vertigo in 2004.)”

Mashable: Beats’ Serena Williams Ad Will Inspire the Crap Out of You

“Fresh off her sixth U.S. Open win, Serena Williams is starring in an ad for Beats by Dre that should inspire you get your lazy butt off the couch and get some exercise.

The ad, set to 2 Chainz’s “Black Unicorn,” shows Williams working out — jumping rope, running in place, clutching a medicine ball — while wearing her wireless Beats headphones, natch. The narrative is interspersed with shots of Williams’ hometown of Compton, California, the same place Dr. Dre grew up.”

“Marketers just can’t resist a live event, even when it’s another brand’s.

Everyone from Oreo to Applebees high-jacked Apple-related hashtags hoping to be a part of the conversation as Apple revealed a bigger iPhone, watch and digital wallet on Tuesday afternoon.

Some of the tweets were at least relevant, with MasterCard, an initial partner of Apple Pay, promoting the newest feature.”
