Budhwa Mangal was celebrated with festive spirit on Tuesday. A huge rush of devotees was seen in Hanuman temples, including the one in Panki. Hanuman ‘bhakts’ thronged temples till late at night to seek blessing of the deity.
Non-stop 'Akhand' Ramayan and Sundarkand path recitation was organised in many temples and households. Several business houses, NGOs, temple samitis and other devotees organised community lunch (bhandaras).
'Poori bhaji' and 'boondi' were distributed as prasad to passers-by.
Long queues of devotees were seen outside Panki temple since early in the morning. The main attraction of the temple was a 51 kgs laddoo bhog offered to Lord Hanuman. According to temple priest Jitendra Das Maharaj, the bog of 1000 poe (a sweet) was also prepared as offering. “This year, we prepared a special garland, which was made of five types of dry fruits. No flowers were used in the garland. It weighed 11 kgs,” he said.
Rush was witnessed at temples like Dakshineshwar Hanuman Temple on GT Road and Sote Baba Temple at Kidwai Nagar. Temples in Swaroop Nagar, Moti Jheel crossing and others were beautifully decorated with flowers and lights. Traffic snarls were seen at several places due to rush of devotees.
The city echoed with bhajans and other devotional songs. 'Aarti' was also performed at temples.
