Bihar announces Rs 10cr for relief in J&K

Patna: Extending support to those who have either been trapped or stranded in different parts of Kashmir Valley and Vaishno Devi areas, Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Tuesday announced Rs10 crore from the CM relief fund for the flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir.
The CM asserted that dry ration and boats would also be sent to J&K and the Bihar government would leave no stone unturned in helping the flood victims in the Valley.
Patna DM Manish Kumar Verma said over 25,000 food packets and 20 inflatable boats would be sent on Wednesday for rescue and relief operations in J&K.
Verma said the food packets would have flattened rice, sugar or jaggery, grams, biscuits, candles and medicines. That apart, six more satellite phones would also be sent by the state disaster management department (DMD).
The mobile numbers with initial 72 have now started working in Baramulla and Srinagar districts, according to officer on special duty, DMD, and head of emergency operation centre (EOC), Patna, Vipin Kumar Rai. Rai said one Tapeshwar Yadav from Araria district informed the EOC that 20 persons in his group were in Lal Chowk area of Srinagar.
Traffic was restored on Srinagar-Leh national highway, connecting flood-hit Kashmir Valley with Ladakh region, DMD sources said and claimed that over 600 Biharis are either trapped or stranded or missing in the J&K.
