Rains wash out SCCL’s profits

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has lost enormously as coal production was suspended in its open cast mines due to the rainfall between September 5 and 8. Much of the losses accrued on account of production loss in the mines in Adilabad district.

The loss in terms of production has been put at 2.3 lakh tonnes and in terms of money at Rs. 34.4 crore.

The SCCL achieved 181.6 lakh tonnes in coal production against a target of 211.6 lakh tonnes for the period ranging from April 1 to September 8, according to sources.
