Telugu TV anchor arrested for blackmailing college with sting video

A TV anchor, known for his crime shows on several Telugu channels, was reportedly arrested on Monday by the Andhra Pradesh Police for allegedly demanding Rs 5 crore from the management of a dental college to stop the telecast of a sting video.

Reports said Harshavardhan was arrested in Eluru for blackmailing the management of a dental college there with a sting video on the alleged irregularities in the institution.

Police said the anchor wanted some money in advance and the remaining in cash later. When he reportedly refused to settle for a smaller amount, the college decided to approach the police.

Harshvardhan, who is said to be a central government employee, has also reportedly acted in some Telugu movies.

It is not yet known for which TV channel was the sting operation on the dental college done for.
