Talwar’s plea could not be taken up at High Court

The criminal appeals filed by doctor duo Rajesh Talwar and Nupur Talwar challenging the life term awarded to them by the CBI Court, Ghaziabad in Aarushi murder case could not be taken up by a division bench of the Allahabad High Court due to paucity of time.

ALLAHABAD: The criminal appeals filed by doctor duo Rajesh Talwar and Nupur Talwar challenging the life term awarded to them by the CBI Court, Ghaziabad in Aarushi murder case could not be taken up by a division bench of the Allahabad High Court due to paucity of time. The criminal appeal was listed for hearing before a division bench on Monday but by the time it was taken up, the time of the court expired.
Now it will be listed for hearing on some other date.
To recall, the doctor duo were awarded life sentence by a CBI court on November 26, 2013 for the murder of their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj. Earlier, the court had denied them bail saying that the matter is serious. Aarushi (14) was found murdered inside the Talwars' residence in May 2008, while the body of Hemraj, who was initially suspected for the killing, was recovered from the terrace of the house a day later.
Bar protest: The Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh has resolved to observe protest on September 12, 2014 across the state to register their protest against the violent attacks being made on the lawyers in the state. Secondly, the Bar Council will observe protest on Sep 12 to protest what it call non implementation of welfare schemes for lawyers due to non-approval of the state government.
