NAGPUR: Ten students of an engineering college escaped with minor injuries after their college bus spun around after skidding near Jamtha on Monday early morning. The Hingna police have booked bus driver Navan Sahu, who was also injured, for rash driving causing accident.
Police said ten students, including four girls, of St Vincent Palloti College of Engineering, Gavsi Manapur, Wardha Road, were in the bus that was going to Jamtha.
Police said the accident took place when the bus was near the college. "The driver tried to negotiate a sharp turn but the front wheel of the bus skidded due to the slippery road and the vehicle upturned. The students hit the seats due to the impact and suffered minor injuries. All of them were trapped inside," said ASI Nilkanth Raut.
Raut said by the time cops reached the spot, the students had informed their teachers. "The college staff rescued the students and the bus driver and took them to a nearby private hospital. All were discharged after few hours of treatment," he said.
The police towed the bus to the police station. Cops claimed the driver couldn't control the speed while taking the turn. "Since the students are frightened and injured, we will be taking details from them on Tuesday," they said.
