Not every actress can carry a film on her shoulders: Ragini Dwivedi
When Nikesha Patel was offered the Kannada remake of the Telugu film Missamma, titled Namaste Madam, she says that she was glad that she wasn’t offered the role played by Bhumika Chawla in the original, even though the film is pretty much about that character.
“I knew that the Kannada version would demand a lot of skin show and I was not comfortable with that. I am not averse to glamour, but I do not like to show skin too much.
There might be actresses who are comfortable with that. I am not,” she reasoned.
The role in question, incidentally, has been played by Ragini Dwivedi and, going by the hot and sensuous stills from the film — featuring the actress and lead hero Srinagara Kitty — one wonders if the makers of the film are riding on the actress’s sexy image, and, if Nikesha was taking a direct dig at her.
Ragini, though, refuses to take the bait, saying, “It’s an extremely dignified character, and in fact, one that carries the entire film forward. Yes it is a, strong, bold and sexy character, but not every actress can carry a film on her shoulders. Very specific people get such offers, and I am glad that I got it and no one else did.”
