Sangwan is new HUDA chief [Gurgaon] [Times of India]

(Times of India Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) GURGAON: The state government on Friday appointed Ashok Sangwan, a 2003-batch IAS officer, as the new HUDA chief, after relieving Vikas Yadav of the post. Prior to being appointed as the new HUDA chief, Sangwan was special secretary in the electronics and information technology department as well as the managing director of Haryana state Electronic Department Cooperation (HARTON). He was also the MCG commissioner from February 2013 to July 2013. Vikas Yadav was appointed as both the MCG commissioner and HUDA administrator last month. But, perhaps yielding to pressure from various quarters, the state government decided to take away one of the dual charges from him. He will, however, continue to function as the civic body chief. In fact, in August when the state government had appointed Yadav, many had criticized the move, saying these two departments need dedicated heads. Yadav was also said to be finding it difficult to manage both the posts and was trying his best to strike a fine balance. Senior officials in the urban local bodies too expressed their displeasure at the move, sources told TOI. While everybody was expecting that this arrangement would continue till a new government was formed in the state, it seems to be a pleasant surprise to see this step being initiated by the government before model code of conduct comes into force, ahead of the assembly elections.
