HYDERABAD: HS Prannoy's hopes of winning his first Grand Prix title went up in smoke as he lost to top seed Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka 2118, 21-15, 21-18 in the final of the Vietnam Open in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday.
The fifth-seeded Indian was off to a good start and won the first game. However, his Indonesian rival recovered quickly to clinch the second game at 21-15. The two shuttlers, who are known for their powerful smashes, fought hard in the third but Rumbaka kept his cool towards the end to win the decider and claim the title.

Incidentally, this is the first Grand Prix final that 22year-old Indian managed to reach in the last three years.
The final appearance here will help the world No.50 to come closer to his career best ranking of No. 34.
Meanwhile, in an all-Japanese women's singles final Nozomi Okuhara drubbed Aya Ohori 21-15, 21-11.
