AHMEDABAD: Divine Child Mehsana moved one step closer to better their best show in this tournament after they convincingly defeated KV-3
Gandhinagar 2-0 in the pre-quarterfinal of
The Times of India T20 School Soccer tournament currently underway in Ahmedabad. They lost in the same stage to Navrachana HS Sama in the penalties last year and in the quarters to AIS, again on penalties, in 2012.
Divine Child was undoubtedly the better team in the day. It was player of the match
Aditya Bharwad who gave Divine Child the lead in the 16th minute after he snatched a weak clearance from the defender and unleashed a stinging left footer from six metre away from the centre line that dipped in at the far corner and went past the diving airborne KV-3 goalkeeper RP Singh.
In the second half
Vikram Chaudhary converted a 27th-minute penalty to consolidate the lead after Aditya was brought down in the box soon after a free kick that was taken from just outside the box.
KV couldn't reproduce the magic of the first round and went down rather tamely. They would have lost by a larger margin had the crossbar not come in between some of those shots by Divine Child strikers.
