Court sends notice to Dhumals in HPCA case

The state Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau had registered a case against HPCA in August, 2013. The government on April 2, 2014 had given sanction to initiate proceedings against former chief minister Dhumal, during whose tenure as CM (2008-12) the land was allotted to the HPCA.

A Dharamshala trial court on Saturday issued summons to former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) President Anurag Thakur and HPCA vice-president Arun Dhumal, along with 15 others, to appear on October 27 in connection with the a land violations case by HPCA.

In another development, the Himachal Pradesh High Court on Saturday directed the Shimla municipal corporation to maintain status quo on the issue of temporary structure of the Cricket Academy at Lalpani.

The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan passed these orders on a petition filed by Surinder Singh Thakur, Vice President of the HPCA.

The petitioner has moved High Court against the notice dated September 1, 2014 to demolish the temporary structure of the academy on the ground that the area falls under a green belt.

The court directed the Corporation to file reply before September 16. State CM Virbhadra Singh has demanded the resignations of former Chief Minister and MLA Prem Kumar Dhumal and his son MP Anurag Thakur.
