BHOPAL: State capital experienced spells of showers — some moderate to heavy — on Sunday. Weatherman said prevailing weather conditions are set to continue during the next 48 hours.
Meteorological office in Bhopal has issued warning of "heavy to very heavy rainfall" at some places in Bhopal, Hoshangabad and Indore divisions. Weather office in its daily forecast also said heavy rainfall is likely at some places in the districts of Jabalpur and Ujjain divisions during next 48 hours.
Heavy rain in the state is likely on account of a low pressure area over Chhattisgarh and Orissa, weather office said.

Meanwhile, several parts in state received heavy rainfall during the day affecting normal life. Lateri tehsil in Vidisha district received about 100 mm rain, Pachmarhi in Hoshangabad district 80 mm rain and Begamganj in Raisen district 60 mm during last 24 hours.
Besides, places that witnessed rain on Sunday include Bhopal 15 mm, Indore 22 mm, Ratlam 35 mm, Betul 33 mm, Pachmarhi 18 mm, Satna 16 mm and Rajgarh 15 mm.
As many as 31 districts in the state including Bhopal and Indore are still rain deficient, a government spokesperson said. So far only 19 districts in the state have registered normal rainfall, one above normal and 31 districts have registered deficient rain from June 1 to September 6 this year.

Burhanpur is the only district that has experienced above normal rainfall. Tikamgarh, Betul, Shivpuri, Rajgarh, Neemuch, Khandwa, Sidhi, Guna, Mandsaur, Ashok Nagar, Mandla, Harda, Alirajpur, Khargone, Anuppur, Jhabua, Barwani, Sheopur and Chhindwara have received normal rain.
Districts where deficient rainfall has been registered include Raisen, Bhopal, Gwalior, Hoshangabad, Balaghat, Sagar, Damoh, Seoni, Rewa, Sehore, Indore, Umaria, Datia, Shajapur, Panna, Shahdol, Ujjain, Dhar, Satna, Morena, Ratlam, Dewas, Bhind, Agar-Malwa, Chhatarpur, Singrauli, Narsinghpur, Vidisha, Jabalpur, Katni and Dindori.
