TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Interior Gunawan Fauzi is scheduled today to inaugurate the Regent and Vice Regent elect of Southwest Sumba, Markus Dairo and Ndara Tanggu Kaha. The inauguration will be held in the Ministry of Interior’s office Jakarta. “The inauguration will be held at noon in the Ministry of Interior,” Head of NTT Governance Bureau Silvester Banfatin told Tempo on Monday, September 8.
The inaguration of the Regent and Vice Regent of Southwest Sumba is handed over to the Minister of Interior due to objections from the Local House of Representatives. Southwest Sumba’s Local House of Representatives is unwilling to inaugurate them due to have considered the process of local election full of violation.
The inauguration will also not be attended by NTT Governor Frans Lebu Raya who is preparing the funeral of former NTT Governor Dr. Hendrikus Fernandez.
Southwest Sumba’s electoral commission in the plenary meeting on August 10, 2013 established a vote of the regent and vice regent candidate Markus Dairo Talu-Dara Tanggu Kaha achieving 81,543 (47.62 percent), Kornelis Kodi Mete-Daud Lende Umbu Moto 79,498 votes (46.43 percent) and Jacob Mali Bulu-John Mila Geli 10,179 votes (5.94 percent).
Having the most votes, Markus Dairo Tallu-Ndara Tanggu Kaha was established as Regent and Vice Regent elect period of 2014-2019 by the local electoral commission. However, a suspicion of vote inflation violation was discovered forcing the electoral commission to held another plenary meeting and established the couples Kornelis Kode Mete and Daud Lende Umbu Moto as the winner of the local election.
