AKARTA: PT Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM), a subsidiary of state-owned Bank Mandiri, is eyeing the financing of mortgages worth Rp 5.9 trillion (US$500.3 million) as of this year. BSM financing senior executive vice president Edwin Dwidjajanto said that financing for house ownership up to the first semester of 2014 had grown 22.4 percent year on year, with total financing of Rp 4.9 trillion.
'The financing is distributed to around 23,000 customers,' he told bisnis.com.
The banks target middle-lower-class customers buying first homes.
BSM booked a profit of Rp 150.14 billion in the first semester 2014. The bank saw a slight growth in financing from Rp 11.2 trillion in the first semester of 2013 to Rp 11.66 trillion in the first half of this year
