Man charged over sexual assaults in Fitzroy North

A man has been charged over a spate of alleged sexual assaults in Melbourne's inner-north last month.

Victoria Police spokesman Senior Constable Adam West said officers arrested 22-year-old Ryan Thomas, of Fitzroy, about 2.30pm on Sunday for several alleged indecent assaults near Rushall train station in Fitzroy North, and along the Merri Creek Trail in August.

He was interviewed and charged with indecent assault, unlawful assault and wilful and obscene exposure before being remanded at an out-of-sessions hearing.

Mr Thomas is expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.
