King of romantic songs: Delhi recently sang along with Arijit Singh, the man who gave us the ‘love anthem of the year’, Tum Hi Ho, when he performed at the Meethi Mirchi live in concert by Arijit Singh in the capital. The event was conceptualized and executed by O2 Events supported by Radio Mirchi, 98.3 FM It’s Hot! With a live band, complete with a sax player, the Bollywood singer enthralled the crowd with his soothing baritone as he performed all his hit songs, including Dil Sambhal Ja Zara and Mast Magan and the audience chanted his name and sang along.
Bollywood singer Supriya Pathak also joined Arijit on stage and took over while he took a quick break.
I’ve missed speaking in Hindi: Arijit had a pretty interactive session with the audience, making them dance to his tunes (not that it was needed as everyone was anyway on their feet). And the singer seemed to be glad to be in Delhi. “I’m performing in Delhi after a long time and I’m glad to be here. Primarily because I’ve been travelling abroad a lot and hence, speaking in English, and I’ve missed speaking in Hindi,” he said.
The next gen Pehla Nasha: The singer also sang rock versions of Roobaroo, Bheegi Bheegi Yaadein and to the delight of his female fans, Pehla Nasha, making everyone in the crowd (yes, including men!) swoon and proclaim their love for him. Said Dishank, an entrepreneur from Panchsheel, who was there with his friends, “There was a huge line outside and we took more than an hour to get in, but it was totally worth it.” Added Abhishek, who works at an MNC and was there with his girlfriend, “My girlfriend totally loves him and I don’t really mind because after today, I think I love him too.”
