More than 42,000 Ganesh idols to be immersed in Surat on Monday

Surat will come to a standstill as more than 42,000 idols of Lord Ganesh will be immersed in flowing waters of Tapi and in artificial lakes specially prepared for the purpose of immersion of idols on Monday.

Surat will come to a standstill as more than 42,000 idols of Lord Ganesh will be immersed in flowing waters of Tapi and in artificial lakes specially prepared for the purpose of immersion of idols on Monday. Surat police has made elaborate arrangements to see through the immersion process peacefully in the city where more than 20 lakh people are likely to be on roads during the day time.

Ganesh Utsav samiti has appealed to the organizers and devotes of Lord Ganesh to complete the immersion process before the sunset. It has also appealed people to carry out immersion in proper religious way and stay away from using filmy songs and follow the instructions of police to avoid any inconvenience to the other people.
“We appeal to people to maintain complete religious decorum during the whole process of immersion.” said Anil Biscuitwala, president of Ganesh Utsav samiti.
Authorities have announced release of 70,000 cusecs of water to see immersion process properly completed on 33 Banks (Ovaras) of the river in city.
More than 800 CCTV camera and more than 10,000 strong police and para military forces along with home gurads and other people will keep an eye on the immersion process procession to see that no unwanted incident takes place.
