Cop’s body found hanging from tree

KANPUR: The body of a police constable was found hanging from a tree in Ghatampur police area of the district here on Saturday morning.
According to reports, Malkhan Singh (32) son of Devi Prasad Yadav, a resident of Fatehpur district, was posted at Reserve Police Lines in the district. Singh on Friday had come to meet his parents, who stayed in Aranj Rai village in Ghatampur area of the district.“He however has not resumed his duty at Reserve Police Lines since then,” informed SP (rural) Anil Mishra.
His body was spotted hanging from a mango tree on Saturday morning by a passerby, who informed the police. Later, the cops along with Forensic team experts rushed to the spot and after conducting preliminary investigation sent the body for post mortem examination.
“We are investigating the matter from all possible angles. Post mortem report however suggested that he had committed suicide,” an official at Ghatampur police station said. But further investigations suggested that he would drink heavily. Locals too confirmed that Malkhan's family used to remain troubled with his habit of excessive drinking.
