PALANPUR: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is being installed over Ambaji in Banaskantha district for mass surveillance of the area during the ongoing week long Bhadarvi Poonam fair.
Claiming that elaborate security arrangements have been made in view of the recent video released by Al Qaeda a couple of days back, superintendent of police at Banaskantha Dharmedra Sinh Vaghela, who is camping at Ambaji, said, " We have demanded the UAV and an internet traffic analysis system this time.
The UAV is expected to become functional by tomorrow.
In order to ensure that the fair passes off peacefully he said, "We have also deployed 16 ASPs, 39 inspectors, 166 sub-inspectors, 1984 jawans including 224 women personnel, 83 traffic cops, 2,600 home guards, 500 jawans of gram rakshak dal and 500 jawans of SRP."
Two platoons of SRP have also been kept on stand by. Besides, 50 cops have been deployed in civil dress at the fair venue.
The organizers expect around 30 lakh devotees to visit the temple during the fair that ends on September 9.
