TNCA first division league: Malolan stars in Vijay’s win

Off-spinner Malolan Rangarajan claimed seven for 80 — he had match figures of 12 for 165 — as Vijay CC defeated Gland Slam by seven wickets on the third day of an Elite Group TNCA first division league match here on Friday.

Grand Slam was dismissed for 197 in its second innings with V. Maaruthi Raghav remaining unbeaten on 94 (144b, 7x4, 5x6).

M. Shahrukh Khan contributed 51 (80b, 8x4).

Paceman D. Tamil Kumaran scalped four as Young Stars managed to grab a 54-run lead over Globe Trotters despite a hundred from K. Shri Vasudeva Das (110, 209b, 11x4).

Thalaivan Sargunam made 51 (107b, 5x4).

Anand Subramanian’s unbeaten century (107 not out, 204b, 9x4, 4x6) and valuable contributions from R. Kavin (93, 123b, 15x4, 1x6), B. Rahul (46) and S. Karthik (63) enabled Alwarpet deny the lead to Jolly Rovers.

Left-arm spinner D.T. Chandrasekhar took five wickets for Rovers.

Shravan scores 144

In the Plate Group, Shravan Krishnan’s 144 (260b, 14x4, 3x6) for Aruna CC prevented UFCC (T. Nagar) from taking the lead.

In a thrilling finish, Shravan proved defiant as Aruna ended on 373 for nine. Left-arm spinner V. Arun Kumar picked four wickets.

IOB left-arm spinner R. Karthikeyan’s five-wicket haul notwithstanding, Southern Railway Institute managed to force a draw.

AG’s Office won the close battle for the lead, dismissing India Pistons for 242. Left-arm spinner R. Sai Kishore prised out four batsmen.

For Pistons, Yash Pal Singh made 70 (159b, 6x4, 1x6) and R. Srinivasan 56 (113b, 5x4).

Elite Group:At IIT-Chemplast: Jolly Rovers 530 for six decl. in 147.1 overs drew with Alwarpet 343 for seven in 133 overs (B. Rahul 46, S. Karthik  63, Anand Subramanian 107 not out, R. Kavin 93, D. T. Chandrasekar five for 112). Points: Rovers 3, Alwarpet 3.

At IC-Guru Nanak: Grand Slam 218 & 197 in 70.4 overs (M. Shahrukh Khan 51, Maaruthi Raghav 94 not out, Malolan Rangarajan seven for 80) lost to Vijay 347 & 70 for three in 11.5 overs (C. Hari Nishanth 44 not out). Vijay 8, Grand Slam 0.

At MRF-Pachaiyappa’s: Young Stars 362 & 66 for one in 24 overs (K. Srikar Bharat 48) drew with Globe Trotters 308 in 106.4 overs (K. Shri Vasudeva Das 110, X. Thalaivan Sargunam  51, D. Tamil Kumaran four for 72). Young Stars 5, Trotters 2.

Plate Group: At Southern Railway ground: IOB 315 in 97.3 overs & 146 for two in 42 overs (Vishnu Vinod 44) drew with Southern Railway Institute 253 in 116 overs (Prashant Awasthi  55, Sanjog Binkar  68, R. Karthikeyan five for 82). IOB 5, SRI 2.

At Murugappa: UFCC (T. Nagar) 485 for six decl. in 120.4 overs drew with Aruna 373 for nine in 136 overs (Shravan Krishnan 144, V. Arun Kumar four for 125). UFCC 3, Aruna 3.

At CPT-IP: AG’s Office 258 & 22 for one in six overs drew with India Pistons 242 in  101.3 overs (R. Srinivasan 56, Yash Pal Singh 70, R. Sai Kishore four for 86). AG’s Office 5, Pistons 2.
