The Honnavar JMFC Court on Friday issued an order against allowing counsel for the complainant in assisting the Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) in the case against the couple arrested on the charges of extortion and blackmailing an aide of the Sri Ramachandrapura Math.

The court was hearing arguments on whether or not Shambhu Sharma, advocate for the complainant (Chandrashekhar) in the case, could assist the APP. The matter came up before the court on Monday after Mr. Sharma volunteered to assist APP Badrinath Nair to which counsel for the couple M.L. Naik objected. The court had then adjourned the hearing till Friday.

After hearing the arguments from both sides on Friday, senior civil judge M.S. Harini ruled against Mr. Sharma assisting the APP and adjourned the hearing on the bail application of the couple till Saturday.
