Energetic fashion designer Betsey Johnson -- known for turning cartwheels and doing splits at the end of her shows -- has signed on for season 19 of “Dancing With the Stars.” Some wags are making fun of the selection of Johnson, 72, and comic Tommy Chong, 76, because of their ages. (“Get out the orthopedic shoes and Visine,” said the New York Daily News.) But said wags clearly haven’t seen Johnson in action.

California fashion blogger Bethany Mota was also tapped for the show, along with Tavis Smiley, Lea Thompson from “Switched at Birth,” Sadie Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” and more. [Los Angeles Times]
