William Jenkinson, RIBA, has joined HOK’s Aviation + Transportation practice as vice president and regional practice leader in Chicago.

A recognized aviation industry leader, Jenkinson brings 25 years of planning and design experience to HOK’s clients. He will focus on project opportunities in North America and internationally.

“William is an important addition to HOK’s global Aviation + Transportation practice,” said Robert Chicas, AIA, HOK senior vice president and co-director of the firm’s A + T practice. “As our regional practice leader for the North Central U.S., he brings great depth and experience in supporting our mission of excellence in designing places for people on the move.”

Jenkinson joins HOK from Gensler, where he was a director of Aviation + Transportation. His extensive experience spans a broad range of projects across North America, Europe and Asia. His recent work includes developing planning and design concepts for the replacement of Terminal 1, including a new landside development, at San Diego Lindbergh Field; a 50-acre master plan for Amtrak Chicago Yard in Chicago; the master plan and conceptual design for the new international airport at Mopa, Goa, India; and the design solution for converting the original international terminal at San Francisco International Airport into a LEED Gold certified domestic hub for Virgin America and American Airlines.

“William’s expertise and international experience brings tremendous value to our clients,” said Raymond Clark, AIA, LEED AP, management principal for HOK’s Chicago office. “He will play a crucial role in our highly integrated, multidisciplinary design practice in Chicago.”

Jenkinson is an international associate with the American Institute of Architects and a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and Urban Land Institute. He holds a professional diploma in architecture from the University of North London and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Liverpool.

“I am thrilled to join HOK’s global team,” said Jenkinson. “I am impressed with our design talent throughout the firm and excited by the opportunities in aviation and transportation design for this region and throughout the world.”
