: Adding yet another attraction to the evenings in the city, the Greater Cochin Development Authority’s (GCDA) international multimedia laser show of GCDA was launched at Rajendra Maidan on Thursday evening.

Minister for Urban Affairs Development Manjalamkuzhi Ali inaugurated the show in the absence of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who could not make it. Despite a slight drizzle, the audience sat through the maiden show.

The project christened “Mazhavillazhaku” has been set up at a cost of Rs. 3.25 crore and is arguably the first such show to combine fountain dance, water, laser, smoke and video in the country.

The show is based on a theme that revolves around a fairy tale in which the Queen of Arabian Sea takes two child tourists on a joy ride along the rich history, tradition, and heritage of the city. The 50-minute show will be staged once in a day between 7.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. with prospects for further add-ons in the next edition.

The show has script writer John Paul as the creative master mind while filmmaker Aashiq Abu directed it and cinematographer Shyju Khalid canned it.

Actor Reema Kallingal dons the role of the queen while the songs are composed by Bijibal.
