Men are more experimental, says BBlunt founder Adhuna Akhtar

Contrary to belief, Indian men are quite experimental. When we came to India in 1998, we were surprised to see more men willing to experiment with their hair than women. It's balanced out now, but it was obvious at the time.
I love celebrities who are willing to experiment. I was most nervous about cutting Shah Rukh Khan's hair because of his huge persona. He has a fabulous head of hair and thankfully, he is easy to work with. Hrithik Roshan is also very chilled out. I had to give him a major style overhaul for Lakshya and he gave me full freedom. Among the girls, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra have beautiful hair and are open to new styles.

My husband Farhan Akhtar has coarse, strong hair and his dad says that before he met the Bblunt team, he never had any hairstyle. Now, he's tried every style in the book. Earlier, it was me styling his hair, but now he's comfortable with others in my salon as well. For me, that is like having his stamp of approval.

Launching my own line of products is something I cherish as it is every hairdresser's dream, and I managed to achieve it.




As a boss, I'm very passionate about my craft and I think my team appreciates that. I'm driven and not someone who gives up. I believe that it's important that I set a good standard for my team. If they see me hyper, like I am at home, they'll follow suit and scare all the clients away.

I'm a stickler for punctuality and it's a quality I expect from all employees. Our business revolves around keeping appointments, so sticking to a schedule is important.

Horse riding and jumping out of aeroplanes are part of my adventurous streak. I keep alternating between a variety of sports and don't tend to stick to one for long. My desire right now is to learn to fly a plane.
