Residents install CCTV cameras

Four cameras were installed at a masjid here

Hyderabad: Following instructions from cops the residents of Rangareddy Colony at Bholakpur in Musheerabad installed 13 surveillance cameras in their colony. Cameras were installed at places of worship too.

The cameras were inaugurated by Telangana home minister Naini Narsimha Reddy on Thursday.

The Central Zone police had been organising awareness programmes recently for citizens as well as vendors and hawkers in Railway stations.

The residents were sensitised by the Musheer-abad police a couple of days ago and they decided to install the cameras. There are around 100 families staying in the colony and many shops.

Four cameras were installed at a masjid here. While one camera was installed inside, others were placed outside. Cops said the surveillance cameras would cover every nook and corner of the colony.

Thus the entry of any stranger or anti-social element can be captured instantly.

Meanwhile, cops feel their jobs have become easier with the installation of the cameras. “We have been conducting programmes about the safe city concept. The residents come forward to install the

cameras. This will certainly help to prevent crime,” inspector M. Narender Reddy of Musheerabad said.

Speaking at the event home minister Narsimha Reddy said community policing will help in checking the crime rate.

Muslims of the colony organised a meal. DCP V.B. Kamalasan Reddy and other officials were also present.
