Order to stop work near 3 IAF bases
GURGAON: Deputy commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi has issued three separate orders to ban all types of construction within the prohibited areas around the Indian Air Force Stations of Gurgaon, Arjangarh and Rajokri on Thursday.
He said no construction will be allowed to be erected or re-erected, and no tree can be planted in any part of the restricted belt notified by the ministry of defence.

"The ?no construction zone' has been demarcated 100m around the air force bases in Arjangarh and Rajokri. In the case of Gurgaon's IAF ammunition depot, it is 900m. The restricted belt is measured from the outer boundary of all three stations. Arjangarh's restricted area falls within the revenue estate of Gurgaon villages Chakkarpur and Wazirabad.
Similarly, the prohibited area around Rajokri station falls within the revenue estate of village Dundahera, which also comes under Gurgaon district," Vidyarthi said.
The move comes a week after Punjab and Haryana high court reprimanded the civic authorities for failing to prevent construction of unauthorized structures in the restricted zones. The high court directed the district administration, which includes Gurgaon municipal corporation, to take immediate steps to stop the illegal construction activity 900m area around the IAF ammunition depot. It said that if the administration failed to stop the illegal construction, the court would be forced to send paramilitary troops for the purpose.
Vidyarthi said any unauthorized construction on these restricted sites shall be demolished at the risk and cost of the concerned land owner. "The district administration will not allow the law and order machinery or rule of law to be compromised by miscreants. If need be, central forces would be deployed to dismantle the unauthorized constructions," said Vidhyarthi. While the restriction on the 900m area around IAF, Gurgaon, has stayed for a long time, this is probably the first time when a restriction around the air force stations of Arjangarh and Rajokri have been imposed.
