Kannada actress Aindrita Ray has made her Bengali debut with the film titled Bachchan. She is in the lead role opposite superstar Jeet. Aindrita, who had started her acting career with 2008’s biggest hit Meravanige, said, “Being a true-blue Bengali, it is every actor’s dream to feature in a big-budget production having Jeet as your co-star. He has been very protective, cool and accommodating on the sets. The film is a typical action-comedy-thriller made by director Raja Chanda, a big name in mainstream genre in Bengal,” said the actress, who has shot for the film at places like Praca Da Ribeira and Praca Da Rossio in Europe.
Despite the title, Bachchan bears no resemblance or reference with Amitabh Bachchan. The film is a journey of an ordinary laundry owner boy Bijay (Jeet) who wants to reach greater heights in life. It also stars Ashish Vidyarthi and Kharaj Mukherjee among others.

Technology comes handy for actor to curb piracy

Technology came in handy for Tamil actor and film-maker Radhakrishnan Parthiban to nail a film exhibitor who allegedly produced pirated versions of his latest directorial Kathai Thirakkathai Vasanam Iyakkam, now running in cinemas. “Markers embedded invisibly in the original digital movie source and forensic watermarks helped us to decipher that my movie was pirated in a hall near Coimbatore,” said the actor recently in Chennai.
Following this, legal action has been initiated against the film exhibitor besides action through the film distributors council, he said adding, “Technologies like Cube and USO helps the industry. We detected my movie’s source of piracy through the Cube technology.”
When the actor and his assistants went to the Burma Buzaar area in Chennai, infamous for pirated DVDs, he found hundreds of DVDs of his movie that released two weeks back and being screened in 150 screens in Tamil Nadu. “ I am not going to stop. I will claim damages and compensation of Rs.15 crore,” he said, adding, piracy was “confining” viewers to their homes.
Known for his unique and unconventional style of story telling among Tamil film goers, Parthiban said he will initiate action seeking damages from the owners of the movie hall who allegedly produced pirated versions.
