S.V. Satish Kumar Reddy (TDP) has become the first Deputy Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council after his unanimous election on Thursday. Announcing the appointment of Mr. Satish Reddy, Chairman A. Chakrapani said the election became unanimous after members Kantheti Satyanarayana Raju (Congress) and K.V.V. Satyanarayana Raju withdrew their nominations on Wednesday.
Congratulating him, the Chairman said Mr. Satish Reddy was elected to the Legislative Council in 2011 and hailed from a political family in Pulivendula constituency in Kadapa and is a third generation political leader from the family with excellent public relations. He played his role as Opposition and ruling party member efficiently and as Deputy Chairman now he should ensure rules and procedures were adhered to by every one.
He directed Minister Narayana and Leader of Opposition C. Ramachandraiah to accompany the newly elected Deputy Chairman to the Chair.
Mr. Narayana said 47-year-old Satish Reddy started his political career as Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society Chairman in 1988 and later as mandal president in 1995 and contested in the Assembly elections from Pulivendula constituency four times as per the party’s directive before he was elected to the Legislative Council. He thanked all the members for his unanimous election.
Leader of Opposition Ramachandraiah, CPI member P.J. Chandrasekhar, YSRC member A. Apparao, PRTU member Gade Srinivasulu Naidu, PDF member V. Balasubramanyam, Kantheti Satyanarayana Raju, K.V.V. Satyanarayana Raju, and Nannapaneni Rajakumari were among those who congratulated Mr. Satish Reddy on his appointment.
Thanking the members for giving him the rare honour and reposing their faith in him, the Deputy Chairman said he would strive to ensure meaningful discussions in the House so as to find solutions to people’s problems through the Elders House.
