Angry labourers block road in protest
Another death at HC buildingg site

Lucknow: An angry group of labourers partially blocked the busy Faizabad road on Thursday noon after a worker died in the under construction high court building. The labourers were protesting against the contractor, the government agency handling the project and police. Within a period of seven months two construction workers have died.
Assistant of a stone cutter, 23-year-old Naresh was working on the third floor in the morning.
The contractor Prem Chandra from Rajasthan was to furnish work in a portion of Unit III of the building that is coming up across Faizabad road in Vibhuti Khand and Naresh had been employed by him.
Around 8am, Naresh fell on the floor and other labourers rushed him to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital. The doctors were about to administer treatment when he succumbed to the injuries. Soon after news of his death broke, the aides of the contractors ran away from the hospital.
Police were alerted but took more than an hour to respond. A large crowd gathered at the hospital and demanded action against the contractor. The angry group later took the body to the high court building and jammed the highway.
“Police took an hour to reach the hospital and by that time the aides of the contractor managed to escape. We also wanted that UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam and contractor employed by the agency to be booked for negligence,” said Suresh Pal, one of the protestors. The body was sent for postmortem late afternoon.

Circle officer of Gomtinagar area Ashok Kumar said Naresh was a native of Jagner area in Agra. “Parents of the deceased have been informed and we are waiting for them to decided next course of action,” he added. In February Ramesh a supervisor from Gorakhpur died at Unit III. Earlier in August 2013 and September 2012 similar mishaps have taken place in the complex.
Another protest: In a separate incident, a group of villagers protested at Mohan road on Thursday noon. Ramjan, a resident of Khushalganj locality in Para area, died in a road accident. The angry villagers and his kin placed the body on the road and protested demanding action against the offender motorist.
