In the case of alleged rape against Karthik Gowda, son of Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, the 8th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court issued an arrest warrant against him based on a request by the city police on Thursday. The request was made as he failed to appear before the police for questioning in the case.

Karthik is accused of rape and cheating by a Kannada film actor who claims that he married her. The police had issued two notices to Karthik to appear before them as part of the investigation. Since he did not turn up, the police sought an arrest warrant on Wednesday.

City Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi said, “A special team has been formed to nab him. A lookout notice has been issued.” All airports, and railway and bus stations across the State have been alerted.

Meanwhile, the City Civil Court, which heard the anticipatory bail plea of Karthik on Thursday, adjourned the case till Friday. Senior counsel B.V. Acharya argued on behalf of Karthik for more than three hours at the hearing. While his arguments concluded on Thursday, the public prosecutor will present his arguments on Friday.

The city police have filed their objections against granting anticipatory bail to Karthik.
