According to Shunty, the incident took place around 5.30 am when a man arrived at his residence and repeatedly rang the bell. "When I came out to check, a man, wearing a helmet, asked me to attest a few documents," Shunty said. The attacker then caught his collar and Shunty noticed a pistol in his hand. The two had a scuffle but the assailant managed to fire three to four shots at him, which missed the BJP MLA, before fleeing from the spot, a police officer said. A senior official said that the bullets found at the crime scene indicate a country-made weapon was used for the attack on Shunty.
