My first RDS after Ba’ba’s release from the Bankipur Jail

Venue: Patna jagrti and Ba’ba’s residence, September 1978

Ba’ba’ remained confined in Jail from December 29th 1971 until the noon of 2nd August 1978 on false charges labeled by CBI and govt. of India. He suffered in many ways and was also poisoned by the jail doctor at the instance of the political high command. Eventually He was honourably released after all the cases against Him were quashed by Patna High court. This was the most auspicious and thrilling moment in the lives of His disciples. His presence once again revived our devotion and freed all of us from the mortal fear.

To me personally, it was a moment of great rejoice. I felt tremendous joy when I was called for RDS in September 1978. I was urnestly looking forward to have His personal audience and to receive His love. During RDS Ba’ba’ was very angry with the low organizational outturn and admonished us for that. I felt child like annoyance & pain on His face due to our neglect. I kept thinking why can’t He, being omnipotent, command us lovingly and get His work done. His mere wish can fructify all that He wishes. Was it necessary to reprimand His workers soon after coming out from the jail? I was disturbed as a child and while there one afternoon having finished my lunch I was resting while contemplating on this subject. About the same time I was called to rush to His residence immediately. I complied and entered His room and did sa’sta’unga pran’a’ma. No sooner I had got up after prostration Ba’ba’, He querried “why are you angry with me”? Being your Guru I have accepted very serious responsibility about my children. I have to take the role of a hard task master much against my own liking. He lovingly pulled my arm closer to Him and said do I like to punish all of you? I do it for your welfare. I never enjoy this. My love for you forces me to punish you for your welfare so that you are able to rectify your mistakes.I found that saying this Ba’ba’ was very much moved. I considered myself fortunate to have witnessed the compassionate form of my beloved Guru. I instantly decided and took a vow not to react in future over His reprimands.

I am deputed to inspect Joshimath School

As Regional secretary Allahabad Region, I learnt about the problem relating to a LFT who was posted then posted in Joshimath School. He called me and requested me to visit his school. Considering the cold climatic condition of the place I did not go there, instead advised some other worker to visit him and attend to the problem. Although I had tremendous attraction for Himalayas, but I was afraid of the cold season there.

Once during RDS in the month of March (Periodic repoting session with Ba’ba’ named Review Defect & Solution) Baba called me in His room and enquired about Joshimath school. Ba’ba’ said that it is a difficult place and you must take special care of that school. After a while He asked me if I had personally visited the place. He was unhappy to learn that I have never been there. He instructed me to immediately proceed there and take stock of the situation and resolve the issues. Even during March it used to be quite cold in Joshimath, I thought I will not be able to stand the cold weather conditions there.  Ba’ba’ being omniscient was able to read my mind and hence commanded me to proceed straight to Joshimath from here itself. As commanded by Him I immediately started for Joshimath via Rsikesha, Devapraya’ga, Rudrapraya’ga, Karn’apraya’ga and Nandapraya’ga. On the way for the first time in my life I was previledged to behold the heavenly natural beauty of Hima’layan region. Then proceeding along the incessant stream of the Ganges I went up to Joshimath from Haridva’ra. On my arrival there the dada posted there became jubiliant seeing me. I took the opportunity and called for a parent teacher meeting and sought their help and support to resolve the problems and impediments in the smooth functioning of the school. The parents expressed their  readiness and agreed to help. Thus the problems were solved once for all. The dada took me to the cave of Shamkara’ca’rya. There I also met, the then, Shamkara’ca’rya of Joshimath Swa’mi Sha’nta’nanda. He was fully acquainted with our school and the Dada incharge and carried a good impression of our educational activities.

I stayed there and enjoyed the natural scenic beauty of the place. From there I also went to Badrina’tha which was just ten kilometers away and then went up to Vishnupraya’ga. The beauty of the ice clad mountainous region there was hypnotic. I stayed there for four days and enjoyed doing Sa’dhana’. I had heard that Himalaya had been the land of sa’dhakas and realized masters. The place was still vibrant with spiritual fervor. Although it was a biting cold climate there still I survived without much difficulty and in the process I was able to overcome the fear of Himalayan cold weather. The volunteers posted in Joshmath were also inspired by my visit sincethere problems  were also resolved. This small incidence inspired by Ba’ba’ taught me the lessons in dutifulness and discharging of responsibilities. He created such an environmental pressure to remove unwanted fear from my mind.

In the following RDS Ba’ba’ became very happy after learning about the improved situation of the Joshimath school and the support given by the parents.
