The Bar Council of India has finally provided some relief to students, who failed to get admission in Nalanda Law College, Borivili, due to online-offline admission chaos. On September 5, the council will decide whether the college can increase the number of divisions to accommodate more students.

On August 20, more than 60 students recorded a statement against the college for duping them by not reserving their first year law seats for which they had paid Rs22,000 to Rs44,000 in the offline admission process. After approaching the students' grievance redressal commitee (SGRC), the committee had a meeting with students and management on August 27, where the management had admitted to refund the fees of those, who had failed to get admission. The management also approached the bar council of India, to allow them to increase the number of divisions, so that they could accommodate more students. And if these students don't want a refund then they will be given first preference in next year for admission.

Leeladhar Bansod, SGRC, member secretary, and deputy registrar MU, said, "If the students don't want a refund then they would be given first preference next year."

Saloni Sawant (name changed), a student, who failed to get admission, said, "We are now waiting to know if the bar council will allow the college to increase the number of divisions. If after September 5, the college fails to provide us with any information, we will opt for refund."

Ajay Salunkhe, trustee of Nalanda Law College, said, "We are expecting a positive reply from the council on permission of increase the divisions by September 12. If the students want a refund, we will return their money and if they want an admission next year, they will be given first preference. The last date of filling the examination form of MU is September 16."
