TNCA first division league: Bharath and Hemant put Rovers in driver’s seat

Centuries from K. Bharath Shankar and skipper C. Hemant Kumar powered Jolly Rovers to 330 for two against Alwarpet in a first round match of the Elite Group in the TNCA first division league here on Wednesday.

Bharat Shankar (142 batting, 268b, 20x4, 1x6) added 229 for the second wicket with Hemant Kumar (123, 185b, 18x4) in 63.1 overs.

Young Stars’ S. Aravinthan (132, 233b, 21x4) and V. Subramania Siva (117, 166b, 10x4, 4x6) put on 216 in 53.1 overs for the third wicket to take their side to a healthy 329 for five against Globe Trotters.

Off-spinner Malolan Rangarajan scalped five as Vijay dismissed Grand Slam for 218. Rohan Prem top-scored with 49.

In the Plate division, Southern Railway Institute off-spinner Prashant Awasthi took five for 74 against IOB; the batting side finished the day at 277 for seven. A.G. Pradeep (98, 172b, 10x4, 3x6) and Ra. Aravind (70 batting, 144b, 6x4, 1x4) shone for IOB.

K. Sambasiva Sarma (128, 238b, 17x4), M. Kamalesh (122, 214b, 18x4) and S. Badrinath (66 batting, 83b, 5x4, 3x6) took UFCC (T. Nagar) to a dominant 322 for two against Aruna.
